Insurance & Compensation
This page explains the insurance and compensation system for our rental vehicles. It lists the coverage, deductibles, NOC, and roadside assistance for each plan so you can choose the right option when booking.

*Personal Injury Coverage: if a passenger is injured in a vehicle accident (including death or permanent disability), it applies regardless of driver fault, up to ¥30 million per person; the actual amount is calculated per the insurance terms.
Roadside Assistance
Basic Roadside Assistance (Standard Plan & Deductible Waiver Plan)
- Vehicle towing: up to ¥150,000 per accident (about 180 km)
- Lockout support when keys are locked in the car (identity verified with your rental record)
- Not available for vehicles with anti-theft systems (e.g. chip keys), trunk unlocking, special vehicle types, or special keys
- Out of fuel: up to 10 liters of gasoline or diesel per delivery (once per rental)
Enhanced Roadside Assistance (Full Protection Plan: includes all basic services, plus)
- Jump-start for a dead battery
- Spare tire replacement for a flat
- Vehicle recovery from a ditch (wheel lift) up to 1 meter
*Roadside Assistance is provided in partnership with the designated insurer. Simple on-site support and light work are free; other services are charged per the applicable rates. If coverage exceeds the limit, the accident is excluded under the insurance contract, or the damage results from a breach of the rental contract, the related costs are the customer's responsibility.
Non-Operation Charge (NOC)
If an accident, theft, breakdown, soiling, or similar issue requires the vehicle to be repaired or cleaned, the renter is responsible for the Non-Operation Charge (NOC) during the downtime, as follows. Amounts are pre-tax; the Full Protection Plan waives these charges.
- Accident
- Drivable to the shop: NOC ¥20,000 / Not drivable: NOC ¥50,000 (including cases where the car still runs but is abandoned on the road, or can't drive on snow due to missing snow tires); plus actual repair costs for unreported accidents.
- Damage (tire puncture)
- Actual cost of parts replacement, etc. (spare tire replacement falls under Roadside Assistance); NOC ¥20,000.
- Loss
- Car key / key case / parking card / fuel card (incl. charging and hydrogen cards) / fuel cap / antenna / wheel caps, etc.: actual costs (incl. staff dispatch, travel, cleaning, and replacement of the lost item); NOC ¥20,000.
- Soiling
- Removing cigarette odor, pet hair and odor, cleaning and deodorizing vomit or spilled kerosene, garbage removal, etc.: actual costs; NOC ¥20,000.
- Items left behind
- When staff must be dispatched to handle it: actual costs; NOC ¥20,000.
- Abandonment / return at the wrong location
- Intentional, in snow, etc.: actual costs (incl. staff to move the vehicle, travel, and vehicle storage and repair costs); NOC ¥50,000.
- Wrong fuel
- Adding fuel other than the type specified for the vehicle (mixing regular and premium gasoline, etc.): actual costs (incl. draining the fuel and replacing damaged parts); NOC ¥20,000.
- Interior damage · emergency response
- Damage to interior switches, etc.; windows left open, lights left on, re-parking, parking-ticket issues, or other on-site and emergency support: actual costs (incl. staff dispatch, travel, parking, and vehicle storage); NOC ¥20,000.
- Other
- Repairs requiring downtime, actual repair costs for unreported accidents, etc.: actual costs; NOC ¥20,000 or ¥50,000. Tampering with system equipment or improper operation: actual costs; NOC ¥50,000.
⚠️ Cases Not Covered by Insurance or Compensation
In the following cases, insurance and compensation will not apply, and all related damages and costs will be the renter's responsibility. Please take note:
- No police report was filed (no accident certificate).
- An accident caused by a driver other than the designated driver.
- An accident caused by driving without a license.
- An accident caused by drunk driving.
- An accident caused by exceeding the rental period without a valid extension.
- Acts that breach the rental contract (e.g. leaving the key in the car, resulting in theft).
*Damages beyond the deductible or coverage limit above are the customer's responsibility. If the accident is an exclusion under the insurance contract, no compensation applies. Conditions may vary slightly by rental branch or insurer.
