BEFORE YOU BOOK
Rental Guide
Please read the following before booking — especially "Driver eligibility & documents." If your documents don't match, you can't pick up the car on site.
⚠️ Driver eligibility & documents (most important)
Holders of a Taiwanese license must carry both of the following to drive in Japan:
- Original Taiwanese driver's license
- Official Japanese translation — issued by the Motor Vehicles Office, the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF), or the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Japan.
🔴 A Taiwanese "International Driving Permit" is not valid in Japan. Please do not rely on an International Driving Permit alone.
Driving conditions
- The Japanese translation is valid for one year from your date of entry into Japan.
- The driver must be at least 18 with a valid license.
- The driver must be the same person who booked, and must appear in person at pickup for document verification.
- Rules differ for other nationalities (some countries use a Geneva Convention International Driving Permit). Please check with us on LINE before booking.
Bring on pickup day
- Original driver's license + official Japanese translation
- Passport
- The person who booked (the driver), in person
- Credit card for payment
Fuel policy
We use a full-to-full policy: delivered full, returned full.
- Please refill the tank before returning the car, and keep the receipt for verification.
- If the tank isn't full, we charge for the missing fuel plus a refueling service fee.
Cancellation policy
To cancel or change your dates, contact us on Official LINE as early as possible. Cancellation fees are calculated on the base rental fee (insurance and add-on accessories are fully refunded), as follows:
- 7+ days before pickup: free cancellation
- 6–3 days before pickup: 20% of the base rental fee
- 2–1 days before pickup: 30% of the base rental fee
- On the pickup day or no-show: 50% of the base rental fee
- Cancellation fees are capped at ¥6,500
Returns
- All returns are handled at our Narita Office for vehicle inspection and expressway toll (ETC) settlement.
- Expressway tolls are based on actual usage, read from the unit at return and collected with your final payment.
Peak periods & rate adjustments
The dates below are Japan's peak travel periods. For rentals that fall on these dates, the base rental fee is adjusted to the peak-season rate (calculated per day; only the peak days carry a surcharge — insurance coverage and add-on fees are unchanged). The actual amount is shown in the estimate on the booking page.
- Cherry blossom season: 3/20 – 4/05
- Golden Week: 4/24 – 5/05
- Obon: 8/07 – 8/15
- Silver Week: 9/18 – 9/22
- Autumn long weekend: 10/09 – 10/11
- New Year holidays: 12/26 – 1/03 (following year)
